Vaughn, Dixon and Weiss assisted Sydney in a meeting with Derek Modell in a market place in Algeria, where they would exchange $10,000 for a vial of the Ice 5 chemical. However Modell had swallowed the vial to get it away from where he stole it. Before the transaction could take place some men who followed Modell moved in and Sydney and Vaughn tried to get him to their van before the attackers got to him. However the vial caused Modell to crystallize and when one of the attackers shot him Modell shattered into a thousand pieces.
